The story is less successful though as aside from its unique premise it has very little to offer thanks to its very familiar moral. and they dont do anything about the security of the house? The surprise for their friends Louise and Chuck was great, too! The energetic lead performances bring some smiles for fans of Angarano and Temple. Ramaa Mosley's debut film "The Brass Teapot" stands out as an enjoyable indie flick. | Rating: 1.5/5 Still, a lot of the humor works and overall the morality tale is effectively told. Juno Temple was wonderful, and although I'm not normally a film buff, I was so impressed with this film that I couldn't help but put a review in. Really sounds crappy on paper - magical tea pot dispenses money for pain, but somehow it does work. Having been a fan of Juno Temple for quite some time, it's nice to see her breaking out into larger roles. Snapped up by Magnolia out of Toronto, this VOD-led indie should score some extra coin in limited release, but plays just fine on smallscreens. Can John convince her to let them give the pot away? No, this is rather a tragedy - a sad thing about a couple chasing money by hurting themselves and others just to profit and for their own greed. Best Couple Movie me n my GF have seen in a while!! But all this isn’t nearly as interesting as how the nouveau-riche pair deal with the temptation before them, and the film is a little too easily distracted from its central test of character.
It follows the structure of a fairytale and is quite entertaining throughout. What made it "enthusiastically quirky" was just the overall way it was conducted, with characters with enigma and personality, and a storyline that you wouldn't believe would be interesting after fifty minutes. Rising star award winner at BAFTA for the 2013 season, Juno Temple, is one of my watch-out actress after seeing her in 'Dirty Girl'. What matters is how the device is used to push the characters, and The Brass Teapot does that beautifully. The Brass Teapot stumbles into tedium, a parable that never quite resolves itself into the moral lesson it so desperately wants to convey. The couple arrives home and, the next day, Alice accidentally burns herself with a curling iron. When John is fired from his job, he has a car accident with Alice on the road in front of an antique house.
In theory, the two actors make a curious match — he of the perpetual babyface and she voluptuous beyond her years — and yet, the early scenes quickly establish that nothing in the world matters more to them than one another, which is the ideal dynamic for a supernatural litmus test: This teapot has a way of bringing out the worst in its owners. This oddball dark comedy might have made an amusing short film, but its one-note concept wears thin at feature length. Oh, and i did like the soundtrack/score.
There's not much depth to Mosley's debut, which is based on a short story by Tim Macy. ... it is apparent that Ramaa Mosley has a voice, and that The Brass Teapot is a focused, controlled piece of storytelling that displays real control. It's funny, but tragic at the same time. A comic fable that squanders its twisted-fairy-tale concept. Home; About Me; Action.
How far would a person go to earn easy money? Personally, I always look for a movie that has a little bit of everything- comedy, romance, suspense, mystery, etc. Quite an original and interesting idea for a movie. With the help of a talented cast, The Brass Teapot is able to coast on charm for the first hour, but then the fairytale idea that powers the film runs out of juice, and the last forty-five minutes hurtle toward a wrap-up that feels both awkward and overwrought, needlessly portentous and arriving much too late. Okay, so I did not give The Brass Teapot a resounding thumbs up, but that is not to discredit the fine acting performances provided by Juno Temple and Michael Angarano, who are the two main stars of the film. To the people who are saying this wasn't good and had bad acting/directing and a stupid story line, you need to get yourself checked out. Despite the weighty implications, the movie never gets overly serious, the right balance is struck between drama and comedy while a few shrewd twists keep the premise from going stale. What made it "enthusiastically quirky" was just the overall way it was conducted, with characters with enigma and personality, and a storyline that you wouldn't believe would be interesting after fifty minutes. Without a human dimension to ground its construct, "The Brass Teapot" ultimately feels like an interminably stretched-out skit rather than a storybook lesson stained with blood and hurt. Whilst the Brass Teapot starts off promising, it then slumps into a typical melodramatic snore fest that you may find in a Disney kids film. |, January 4, 2015
